Winnipeg local can finally retire after $1M LOTTO MAX win!
Van Nguyen is finally retiring after 34 years as a baker!
The Winnipegger won $1 million on LOTTO MAX at a moment he called ‘perfect timing.’
“My manager told me someone in Manitoba won and I said, ‘Maybe me!’” he said. “I headed over to the store to check my ticket after work.”
Sure enough, Nguyen had won on the September 17 draw.
“When I went back and told my manager, he didn’t believe it and we checked it together on his phone app,” he laughed.
The winner said he immediately called his daughter and then took it home to show his wife.
“My daughter was so happy,” he smiled. “I’ve been working for so many years, and I’m finally retiring now! I want to give back to some of my former coworkers too!”
Nguyen purchased his LOTTO MAX ticket from Wellington Supermarket at 689 Wellington Avenue in Winnipeg. He won his prize by matching one of the MAXMILLIONS selections in the September 17 LOTTO MAX draw: 4, 6, 11, 12, 30, 31, and 39.
